This couple spent time and attention on my spring A/C tune-up. They communicated clearly and shared pictures and exactly what was happening and what to expect financially with my appointment. I highly recommend!

I'm absolutely impressed with Steven's (Chillax Heating and Air) knowledge, professionalism, and thoroughness. He took time to actually troubleshoot the odd issues I was having with my furnace. New parts were required (bent blower wheel and swiss cheesed blower housing from previous unrelated companies) as part of the repair. One of the parts had to be ordered from the factory due to my specific system. Steven made sure to call, in the middle of the parts wait, to insure I was ok during a cold spell and offered other repair choices in case I was in desperate need. There was no upsell no gotchas on pricing. Very upfront and honest. Pricing itself was very fair for the work involved. Honesty and care are rare in this era and Steven has both in spades.

Steven is EXTREMELY knowledgeable and an educator on HVAC systems. He came out when we were in dire need of service after moving into our new home. He not only serviced us at a more than fair rate, he let us know about some future signs to look out for regarding preventive maintenance. I'm so glad that we reached out to this company to get our heating system looked at before it gets cold. They responded very quickly, and were able to come out in the same day. Once they arrived, they were friendly, quick, and actually explained the issue and how to fix it. The price they gave was the price they charged, which was very fair. We will definitely be using them for HVAC needs in the future.

Comfort and Temperature Balance in Collierville Homes

Many homes in Collierville feature larger floor plans and multiple levels, which can make consistent heating and cooling more challenging.

Air naturally rises, which means upstairs spaces often trap more heat during the summer months. As a result, upper-level HVAC systems frequently work harder to keep temperatures comfortable while downstairs areas cool more easily.

One simple way to reduce unnecessary strain is to set upstairs thermostats a few degrees higher than downstairs thermostats throughout the year. This helps both systems operate more evenly and prevents the upstairs unit from running constantly during hot weather.

When we evaluate comfort issues in larger homes, we typically look at things like:

  • Restricted airflow from dirty filters or coils

  • Blower performance and system airflow

  • Thermostat settings and system run times

  • Zoning systems that manage different areas of the home

When these factors are working properly, HVAC systems can maintain more consistent temperatures throughout the house without unnecessary strain.

For many Collierville homes, the key to comfort isn’t new, more expensive equipment - it’s proper system operation, consistent maintenance, and smart thermostat settings.

FAQs for Collierville Homeowners

How often should I replace my air filter?

Most homes benefit from changing filters every 1–3 months.

Homes with pets, allergies, or high foot traffic should check monthly, while lightly used systems may stretch to 2–3 months.

Regular filter changes improve airflow, maintain efficiency, and prevent unnecessary wear on your HVAC system.

How can I prepare my home for severe Mid-South weather?

A little preparation helps your HVAC system run efficiently and keeps your home comfortable, whether it’s hot or cold.

  • Check and replace your air filter.

  • Clear vents and registers. Make sure furniture, rugs, or curtains aren’t blocking supply or return vents.

  • Seal gaps around doors and windows.

  • Adjust ceiling fans. Clockwise in winter to push warm air down; counterclockwise in summer to create a cooling breeze.

  • Be ready. Keep blankets, space heaters, fans, or portable AC units handy for temporary outages.

How often should I schedule an HVAC system tune-up?

We recommend two tune-ups per year:

  • One in the Spring for your air conditioning system

  • One in the Fall for your heating system

Seasonal maintenance keeps things running smoothly, extends the life of your equipment, and helps catch small problems before they become expensive repairs.

Do you have an annual maintenance plan?

Yes! Our Chillax Premium Membership includes annual AC and furnace tune-ups with seasonal scheduling reminders, bi-annual filter replacements, refrigerant recharge for slow leaks, reduced diagnostic fees, and after-hours coverage.

Membership costs $20/month (plus $12 for each additional system) or you can save by paying annually for $200/year ($120 annually per additional system). You can update your payment info or cancel anytime. You’re always in control.
