Signs Your Furnace May Need Repair

Expert Diagnosis & Troubleshooting

Not every furnace problem is obvious, and replacing parts without understanding the real cause can lead to unnecessary expenses and repeat failures. Our approach focuses on careful troubleshooting to identify the root cause of the issue. By checking system performance, safety switches, burners, airflow, and other key components, we can determine exactly what’s preventing your furnace from heating properly.

This problem-solving approach helps ensure repairs are accurate and effective the first time. In many cases, a correct diagnosis can restore heat without requiring major repairs, helping extend the life of your existing system. Our goal is always to keep your home warm and safe while making sure your furnace continues operating efficiently for years to come.

What to Expect During a Diagnostic Visit

When you schedule a furnace diagnostic visit, we take the time to evaluate the system thoroughly and explain your options clearly. Our goal is to identify the root cause before recommending any repairs, so you can make an informed decision.

During a diagnostic visit, we typically:

  • Inspect key components, including the blower motor and the heat exchanger

  • Test safety switches and electrical controls

  • Check burners, airflow, and overall system performance

  • Identify the cause of the issue and recommend repair options

Once we’ve diagnosed the problem, we’ll explain what we found and review any recommended repairs with you. No work is performed without your approval, and we’re always happy to answer questions so you can understand exactly what’s happening with your system.

Steven repairing a failed gas valve in Memphis

I'm absolutely impressed with Steven's (Chillax Heating and Air) knowledge, professionalism, and thoroughness. He took time to actually troubleshoot the odd issues I was having with my furnace. New parts were required (bent blower wheel and swiss cheesed blower housing from previous unrelated companies) as part of the repair. One of the parts had to be ordered from the factory due to my specific system. Steven made sure to call, in the middle of the parts wait, to insure I was ok during a cold spell and offered other repair choices in case I was in desperate need. There was no upsell no gotchas on pricing. Very upfront and honest. Pricing itself was very fair for the work involved. Honesty and care are rare in this era and Steven has both in spades.
